How to migrate a 'real' 10.6 server installation to a virtual one (in vmware fusion)

Hello,

currently i am running 10.6 Server on an Intel Mac Pro.

I would like to migrate that existing 10.6 server installation to a 10.6 client os installartion (on apple hardware)which is running VMware Fusion - so overall the question is as the title already states:

How to migrate a 10.6 server installation to a new VM in VMware Fusion.

VMware offers an migration-assistant to migrate PCs into VMware on Mac (PC2Mac) - but as far as i know no solution for Mac2Mac.

Any help is appreciated

Best regards

There's no migration assistant for Mac OS Server systems, but it's possible to clone an entire Mac OS Server installation to a virtual disk:

In addition to using FireWire to copy to another machine as I described in that message, you could also just have another Mac OS partition with Fusion installed, and clone the separate Server partition from the same machine.
