How to resolve keyboard mismatch between host and guest OS?

I use Mac OS Mojave and VMware Fusion 11 with guest OS Linux Ubuntu.

I wonder: how to get the keyboard to work correctly between host and guest OS? As now is, some keys produce the wrong characters when I type inside the guest OS.

Which key has this problem?

Maybe you can type "sudo nano /etc/default/keyboard" at command line.

Check if the XKBLAYOUT equals to "us"
