I am running a 2015 iMac and want to upgrade from Calatina to Monterey

I am running a 2015 iMac and want to upgrade from Calatina 10.15.7 to Monterey 12.2, but currently running VM Fusion Version 11.1.1. Should I upgrade to VM Fusion 12.2 first or upgrade to Monterey 12.2 first?

Hi,

As VMware Fusion 12.2 requires at least macOS Big Sur, the order will be to first upgrade to Monterey.
Otherwise you have to update to Fusion 12.1.2 as that's the last version that supports macOS Catalina.

Before upgrading however I do recommend to shut down each and every VM you deem important and IMO is it always a good idea to also make a backup of your VM to external media. Beware to not use Time Machine for backing up VM's, instead drag&drop the whole VM bundle to an external disk.

See: https://kb.vmware.com/s/article/1013628 for more details.
