Shared Folder file write access form Windows Application

Hello, i use some fusion-shared folders to windows. I can see an read from all folder inner my Windows programs like Word, Excel, Outlook, etc. When i try to write a file from inside of a application to a osx-shared-folder (e.g. the shared download-folder), it creates a 0 kb file, but quits the write-file-process with a error message. If i copy/write to my windows filesystem and then copy the file with the windows-explorer, the file is created an/or copied correctly. Are there any permissions to set? But why can the application create the 0 kb file? It is also possible to create Folders from inside of a application.

I have the same issue on 2 complete different machines. Any ideas?

OSX 10.13.4, Fusion 8.5.10, Windows 10

Try updating the VMware Tools to version 10.2.5.

You can download from this link and you can mount the windows.iso to the respective VMs.

There was an issue that was resolved version 10.2.0 that sounds very similar to what you describe.

    • In the Windows Creators Fall release (1709), saving modified files using Microsoft Office applications to a VMware shared folder can fail.
Attempts to save a Microsoft Office file after editing the file on a VMware shared folder in the Windows Creators Fall release (1709) VM might fail with an error similar to the following:

There has been a network or file permission error. The network connection may be lost"

This issue might occur even when the network connection remains available and the drive is accessible.

This issue is resolved in this release.
