Slow Mouse movement in any Linux VM

One any linux distro that I load I get extremely slow mouse movement. I've tried everything from Ubuntu to Fedora core 4 to 7. But at the same time any WinOS that I load works perfectly. I've already tried upping the allowed memory to the linuxVM, and i've turn the mouse speed all the way up in KDE/GNOME. And it been doing it for the past 3 releases of Fusion.

I'm running a MAC Mini with 2Gb of mem, an external 300Gb HD, and a 1.66 intel core duo.

Thanks

Do you have VMware Tools installed? If you run vmware-toolbox, what version does it say?

Recent Xorg release (7.2) include all the vmware drivers you need, as they now are open source. These drivers are no longer provided by vmware-tools which feature only < 7.2 drivers.

But there is a small bug in vmware-config-tools: it makes a well suited xorg.conf only for the display, not for the mouse !

Here is the diff with the good[/b] xorg.conf

  1. Identifier and driver

Identifier "Mouse1"

\- Driver "vmmouse"

+ Driver "mouse"

Option "ZAxisMapping" "4 5"

Option "Buttons" "3"

\----

As you can see, only add the 2 magic letters "vm" to the mouse driver.
