TPM

I am using VMware Fusion, V 12.1.2

I am attempting to add a TPM to an existing Windows 10 VM in order to update to Windows 11.

I first encrypted the VM.

I then activated UEFI firmware.

I then added the TPM.

At this point, the vm will not boot - see attached screenshot.

if the VM was previously using BIOS instead of UEFI, you need to use the mbr2gpt tool BEFORE setting the firmware to UEFI.

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/deployment/mbr-to-gpt

For encrypted VMs, the virtual disk is also encrypted. It is best that virtual disks are preallocated if it is to be encrypted. So you might want to unencrypt and change the virtual disk to preallocated if it is not on preallocation.
