Hello everybody,
I have installed vmware fusion on my 24" Imac and I have created a Windows XP VM. I have also installed tversity which is a software that allows to "share" files with other devices (like a PS3 for instance).
The problem is that the tversity server is not recognized on my PS3.
Maybe I made a mistake in the network configuration of my VM???
The network adapter is set to "bridge". I have no problem for surfing on the internet.
In the tversity support website it is written : You will need to make sure that the executable <code>MediaServer.exe</code> located under the installation folder of the software (<code>c:\Program Files\TVersity\Media Server</code> by default) is allowed to accept incoming connections on port 41952 (it is not necessary to specify the port on most personal firewalls). => My XP firewall is disabled
Tversity is also installed on a "real" windows XP and it works fine...So, the problem is not located on the PS3.
Do you have any idea in order to solve this problem?
Thank you very much and sorry if my english is not perfect
Hello,
I didn't find the edit button so I reply to my message:
It seems that the problem is a networking problem. In fact, in my network, I've got my Mac (host OS, 192.168.0.10), a windows XP VM (bridged, 192.168.0.15) and a PC with windows XP (192.168.0.12). When I try to ping a machine here are the results:
From host os, I can ping my PC , but I can't ping the VM
From my PC, I can ping host OS , but I can't ping the VM
From my VM, I can ping both (host os and my PC)
Do you have a idea?
Here is the result of "ifconfig" :

thanks
why not just us MediaLink on the Mac...I use it and it kicks butt.
Hello whozit,
I don't know this software. I will try it as soon as possible But I fear that I will have the same problem (because I don't manage to ping my virtual machine from my LAN)
I don't think you'll have any problem because the media server runs on the Mac. So as long as your PS3 or other uPNP device can see your Mac you should be fine.
Hello,
It works pretty well with medialink but I didn't manage to have the sub-titles (.srt).
Afterwards, I will have to test a mkv.
There is also another software called "PS3 media server" and it's free. I tried it but there is a lot of lag when I use the transcoding (via my wireless connexion)
Thanks again whozit
