VMware Virtual Video USB Name in camera detection

When running tests on my virtual machine the camera name is VMWARE virtual video USB instead of HD FaceTime Camera, how do I fix this?

I have an external webcam that I’ve tried attaching and the name is also recognized as VMware Virtual Video USB device. There is no way to change this?

You don't. The camera is passed as a virtual device, and isn't available as a USB device to attach to the VM.

If you have an external USB webcam, disable the Camera device in the VM's settings, and use the USB settings to attach the webcam to the VM instead of the host Mac. It should then be recognized in the VM as whatever type of camera it is.
