microsoft office files open as read only

I had some issues with my macbook and had to back up wipe the HD and restore. Now when i open files from the host mac side they open as read only. I when i try to save a copy it won't allow that either.

This sound like a User Level Permissions Issue not a Fusion Issue and since you've not provided anything specific as in Host/Guest OS info, Fusion version info, how explicitly you're accessing the files, etc., I'd have to say check your Permissions at all levels, Host, Guest and Fusion's VMware Shared Folders otherwise have a look at .
