Hi,
I'm not able to print with one of the applications after upgrading VDI version.
Upon upgrading, we have observed that the printer naming convention has undergone an automatic change. Previously, printers were labeled as " Printer #1” but with the upgrade, these names have been altered to printer (vdi). However, within the application, the printers are still identified by their former names, such as "Printer #1."
Could you please review the situation and provide guidance on how we can disable the "VDI" suffix from being appended to the printer names within the application?
Regards,
Hello,
Could you please share with us the current version of Horizon and previous used Horizon Version? Is it RDS or regular VDI desktop?
What is the value defined under Computer Configuration --> Administrative Templates --> VMware View Agent Configuration --> VMware Integrated Printing --> Printer Name Schema?
Hi,
We tried to change convention name from VMware Integrated printer “%p”,:%p#:” and “%P*” and nothing work.
old version: horizon 7.13
new version: 8 2111
it is regular vdi desktop.
Thank you. With 8.4 2111 the naming convention syntax defined as %P* where * is the user configurable part. If you intend to use PrinterName #1 then you could use syntax as %P# and ensure all the VDI desktop running 8.4 agent and latest 8.4 GPO bundle
We can also just use %P at Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\VMware, Inc.\VMware VDM\PrintRedir\PrinterNameSchema which would eliminate (vdi) completely and just keeps the printer name
