API error for post failure_domain_id

I am trying to update the failure domain ("failure_domain_id") for a edge transport node, and am receiving this error: 

Status: 400 Bad Request

    "module_name": "NsxSwitching service",

    "error_message": "Invalid maintenance mode setting."

Anyone know what could be causing this?
