Cannot revert to ANY prior snapshot on VMWare Workstation 17

I'm running VMWare Workstation 17.5.1 , and when attempting to revert to the last snapshot taken today (while VM was shutdown), I receive an error stating "File not found: NG9XDB-000004.vmdk" (it is missing per the attached directory listing).  Following the error, if I try to revert to ANY prior snapshot, I get a generic error stating that a required file cannot be found.  I need to restore this VM as to avoid 3-4 days of rework, so any help is greatly appreciated.  Note that no errors were thrown when generating the snapshot earlier today.

I was able to edit the vmx manually to reset the vmdks to an older snapshot and delete the desired snapshot that had the missing file.  Regardless, this seems like a bug given that no notice is provided when a snapshot fails, and it is unknown why it failed in the first place.

@nickspierson Please confirm the the OS of Host and Guest VM.
