Cannot scroll in VMs with trackpad

I have installed VMware® Workstation 14 Pro 14.1.1 build-7528167 on Windows 10 version 1709 and cannot get my trackpad to scroll any windows in my Ubuntu 16.04.3 and 17.10.1 virtual machine. I've updated both OS to the latest version, installed VMware tools, ran the xinput list command and it only detected multiple VMware device inputs. I've tried to install Synaptics drivers, but it doesn't detect any Synaptics trackpad.

I hope someone has already encountered this problem before and has successfully solved it.

I was having this issue too.

I couldn't even get the touchpad scroll to work in Windows. It was broken everywhere.

Uninstalled VMWare-tools 10.3.21, installed open-vm-tools-desktop.

Problem solved.
