Client application for shared VMs ?

Hello,

I would like to know if there is any application, among the VMWare ones, which could act as a lightweight client for shared virtual machine (and being able to do only that), for example if I want to install it on a (small) computer which could not have by itself enough resources for running the whole VMWare Workstation application?

Not sure if there is anything if you are trying to actually control the VM. However, if you just want to work inside the VM, you can use a standard VNC client.  Look through the Workstation manual about enabling and configuring the built-in VNC server.
