Cloning VM

Hello, I am using VMware® Workstation 16 Pro version 16.2.5 build-20904516 running on Windows 10, 22H2 build 19045.3930.

I am trying to clone my VM workstation to my external hard drive connected using USB 3 adapter. At the very beginning of the operation, I am getting the following error:  "An error occurred while cloning: Failed to write configuration" 

I successfully cloned this machine on a different external drive with a similar configuration and it succeeded. 

I ran chckdsk and did not find any errors. What can cause this kind of error? The drive is not write-protected and I can write to it without a problem. I am curious what am I missing?

Hello,

Check the file system on the hard drive, may be it is FAT32, so you can't write files bigger than 4 GB.
