Files in shared folder not visible

Hi,

I've been using network mapped folders for ages (Linux Server VMWare 6.0.2, W2K VM guest) without problems (apart Samba annoyances).

I am trying to use shared folders and have wierd results. On some folders I can see documents on others in the same tree I can not. Trying to access one of the visible files with Word will result in Word hanging. PowerPoint seem to be fine.

I reinstalled the VMware tools.

No Joy.

Any ideas?

If you have the need to transfer files on a regular basis stick to network mapped drives (maybe over a host-only network). This is a lot faster, reliable and better to manage regarding access and rights.

Shared folders is just a quick and dirty solution for sporadic use.
