I downloaded and installed a clean Ubuntu 16.04 image. The install goes OK but after login VMware hangs (not the OS). i.e. the machine cannot even be 'powered off' and the only way to reset the machine is to reboot the host OS.
I suspect this is connected to the latest set of patches from MS to deal with the meltdown/spectre vulnerabilities.
Is anyone else experiencing the same issue and are there workarounds?
I am dead in the water because none of my Linux VMs work anymore.
