Guest OS can ping but cannot browse internet or FTP files from remote FTP site

VMware workstation 10.0.1 - Just installed today. No previous visualization software installed on workstation prior.

Host workstation is running Windows 8.1 Enterprise

I'm using bridged networking

3 Guest OS's all exhibit the same behaviour

An old RHEL 6.5 VM which worked about a year ago on old HP laptop

An old CentOS VM which worked about a year ago on old HP laptop

And I have attempted to install RHEL from scratch.

All VMs with the same problem

Things that WORK

I can ping out from guest OS

I can ping from host workstation to Guest OS

I can ssh to all three VMs from guest OS

Things that DON't WORK

When I tried to use a browser to get to any website all three machines just sits and spin.

On certain occasions, if the browser is left sitting long enough I will get vmware ssl_error_no_cypher_overlap

An attempt to ftp from the command line on any of the Guest OSs will succeed to connect and login, but an attempt to get or mget will result in a hung FTP session..nothing happens

I removed all the default Virtual networks and recreated a Bridged Network type.

I've attempted to remove and reconfigure virtual nics on all three machines

I've attempted to reconfigure the network on all three servers from with in the GUI and from command line.

All machines will receive DHPC addresses, and will communicate via pings...but anything outside of basic network pinging fails.

Any Help would be appreciated
