Recently, the guest machine's DWN crashed so frequently that I have to give up and worked in host machine. I moved it to another hard disk, downgrade VMWare Workstation Pro version (16.2.4 --> 16.1.0) without luck. The event viewer shows the following error

Same problem here. Tried to return to older vmw workstation, return to old working snapshot, even installed a clean guest ... the same issue. Two notebooks (different vendors) currently affected. They both have NVIDIA graphic adapters (this seems to be linked to display subsystem). Disabling 3D acceleration in virtual graphics settings does not help. The only way I can use VM now is to run it in background and connect by RDP. Only Windows guests seems to be affected, Debian runs without problems.
I think I'm going to borrow your method and use RDP too. It is still crashing at regular intervals, and I find after 7-8 back-to-back crashes every couple of seconds, it kills my session and drops me back to the login screen. I keep losing all my work.
Hopefully RDP can stop this from happening.
same thing here my host is Lenovo ThinkPad P15v running Windows 10 21H2
12th Gen Intel(R) Core(TM) i7-12700H 2.30 GHz
my guest is Windows 11 latest version.
I cannot work, the dwm contiously crashes.
