Strange extreme slowness problem on Windows XP Professional 64 bit

Hello,

I'm experiencing a strange problem with VMWARE 6.0 on Windows Professional X64 on an Intel motherboard with Intel Core Duo CPU:

After booting the machine all works fine.

But turning off the machine and turning on again is all SUPER SLOW.

I do not know why.

If I reboot the computer all is ok again.

The problem is indipendent by the Guest OS or VM version.

From the time that I push the start button to the bios screen 3 or 7 minutes can pass.

Anyone is experiencing the same?

Kind regards,

Marco S. Zuppone

I am having the exact same problem, but with Windows XP Pro 32 bit as both a host operating system and a guest operating system. Any help would be great

Or more Accurately, I dont know. I believe it is enabled default in XP professional, but I only have 2 gb of ram, so I'm not actually 'using' it.

Hello,

can you tell me the exact motherboard type?

Kind regards,

The computer is a Dell Optiplex 745...I believe it uses a proprietary dell motherboard with the Intel 965 Express chipset.

Thanks,

Matt

Have you found out anything more about it? I was considering an Optiplex. Thanks.

I haven't solved the problem... I would recommend the optiplex though... it is a great computer that is also great on energy usage. I have posted on a couple of forums abut problem and still cant figure it out.
