Hi,
I have windows NTFS host file system accessible from VMWare running redhat linux. The access is done through the Virtual Marchine Settings->options->Shared Folders. I have no problem read/write to the NTFS filesystem, but Linux links to not work.
I also run Cygwin on the Windows host, and linux links work OK there. Even if I create a link with cygwin, it will not work when accessed from VMware-linux guest. I have read that as of Windows Vista, readable and writable symbolic links are supported.
So, is this a bug in the VMWare filesharing tools? A setting that must be tweeked?

Anyone have suggestions on links in Windows host as seen by linux VMware guest? I can't be the first to see this issue....
--Honestly, I haven't trusted (or used) Shared Folders in years - it's something of a hack.
--My recommendation is to install samba (and possibly webmin, to help configure it) in the guest and see if the same issue happens in that case.
