I just upgraded my system from Ubuntu 9.04 to 9.10. My VMWare Workstation is at 6.5.3 build-185404.
When I started VMWare, it of course needed to recompile to the new Kernel which is now:
$ uname -a
Linux Sanibel 2.6.31-14-generic #48-Ubuntu SMP Fri Oct 16 14:04:26 UTC 2009 i686 GNU/Linux
Upon starting my Windows XP VM I now notice the following problem:
The mouse works fine in the main window of an application. If the application opens popup windows, mouse behavior is very erratic. I see two cursors sometimes, an arrow and a finger-pointer. These seem to have different refresh rates, and clicks with the mouse are hit and miss in such windows.
My mouse is a standard USB Mouse. I have never experienced this problem with this VMWare on any previous Ubuntu host installation. This VM is a VMWare 5.x VM. I have tried installing and reinstalling VMWare Tools, to no avail.
How can this problem be solved?
