I am trying to setup a VM to run as an external web server but having a network connection problem. The orginal web server was a physical server running RedHat and connected to the network on a switchport configured for the DMZ. PIX firewall rules were setup to allow access. The new VM server is running on SLES 11. Another internal web server was installed using a very similar setup and works fine. Since the virtual NIC needs a VLAN assigned, I created a separate VLAN for the external web server an placed the appropriate rules on the PIX. However, I can't ping the external router but can ping other devices in the DMZ VLAN. On the physical server, I could ping successfully and get to the outside.
Can anyone assist?
