VMWare Workstation 11 USB serial adapter pass through
Hello Community,
First off: This is regarding a MAC OSX (El Capitan guest). I know there is little (or no) support regarding this type of guest but I do believe this problem is not OSX related.
Let me describe my problem. I am trying to pass though a USB to serial adapter to my guest (http://www.ftdichip.com/Support/Documents/DataSheets/Cables/DS_UT232R-500.pdf). In my guest, I have installed the corresponding driver (which I can verify works on hardware directly).
However, upon attempting to connect the device to the guest, I a USB Error message. The relevant part of the log file is pasted below:

Again, I know that support for OSX is quasi non-existent but I do think this error is within VMWare Professional.
