VMWare Workstation 17 Ubuntu 22.04 NAT Issue

Hello everyone,

I'm having a persistent issue when using VMWare Workstation 17.5 on my Ubuntu 22.04 host.

NAT refuses to work correctly. When switched to NAT, the guest's internet connection turns off and on repeatedly, which affects the guest's ability to connect to the internet.

Interestingly enough, when I changed the guest's network adapter from NAT to dev/vmnet8(the default adapter for NAT on Linux), it worked perfectly fine. I confirmed this issue is persistent across three of the Ubuntu 22.04 variants, such as Kubuntu, Ubuntu Cinnamon, and the regular Ubuntu distro. I also confirmed that host-only and bridged network modes work without any problems.

Has anyone else encountered this bug or have any pointers on how to fix this issue? It's inconvenient to have to manually change the adapter to vmnet8 every time I provision multiple machines with Vagrant.

@dbanks95 Please update to latest Workstation 17.5.1 using Help->Software Updates and let us know if the issue is still occurring.

I can confirm the issue still exists on 17.5.1 build-23298084.
