Workstation 16 Pro | Flickering Screen and Windows User Sign out

Installed Applications:

  • VMWare Workstation 16 Pro | Version: 16.2.4 build-20089737
  • VMWare Tools 12.1.0, build-20219665
  • Windows 10 Enterprise 2016 LTSB
  • iFix 6.0 (Scada System)

Problem Description

When running iFix 6.0, the Screen starts flickering and finally Windows User gets Signed out. After sign-in again, Display driver (VMWare SVGA 3D) is damaged.

Can anybody help?

Hi. I had the EXACT same issue. The solution that is working so far:

Open cmd.exe as an administrator in your Windows VM and type:

bcdedit /set useplatformclock true

Solution found in: https://communities.vmware.com/t5/VMware-Fusion-Discussions/Fusion-12-Big-Sur-Screen-going-black-for...

It doesnt make sense but apparently your guest VM wants your host clock...

Note that I tried everything from upgrading my VMWare Workstation-version, uninstalling, removing Display drivers, removing VMWare tools etc.

Best of luck!

Hey,

thank you for your Feedback. The solution worked! I had to install the VMWare Tools 12.1.5 twice, restart, set useplatformclock true, restart again and finally no flickering scrteen anymore.

It also improved since they released the VMWare Tools 12.2.5. We had the Problems mainly when VMWare Tools 12.1.5 was installed on the VM. All the VMs with older VMWare Tools (11.x.x) were working without trouble.
