cannot run workstation 8 on windows 8

i have installed workstation 8 on windows 8 and it seems to install correctly but as soon as I try to power up any VM i get the following message

VMware Workstation unrecoverable error: (vmx)

d:/build/ob/bora-744019/bora/lib/string/str.c:293 Buffer too small 0x7f6

anyone have any ideas or managed to get it running?

This doesn't really answer your question, but Workstation 8 isn't supported on Windows 8. You might want to look into the Workstation Technology Preview 2012 at http://communities.vmware.com/community/vmtn/beta/workstationtp2012 instead.

Hi Alan,

Sorry for the trouble you're encountering there.  Any chance you could grab a vmware.log from inside the VM's directory and attach it to a reply (use the Browse... button below)?  I'd like to confirm it's the same issue we've also had reported in our beta forums, for which I've already filed a bug report.  Also, what model of video card is in your host?
