Using windows xp-64 guest and linux 10.10 k3.1.1 64 host. Some versions ago (before 7.0 or 8.0, I believe) shared folders were slow and unreliable, and the work around was to mount the drivers through windows (net use d: \\host\subdir). Version 7 and 8 fixed this, and sharing drives through vmware worked quite well. Now 8.0.1 seems to have regressed, and I've shut down shared folders and resumed using "net use", which works faster and (so far) more reliabley.
