vmware-iso Windows Image build stuck at: vmware-iso: Starting virtual machine...

Hi All,

I am having issues debugging a Windows Image build from an ISO using Packer and VMware Workstation. This was  a working code until I updated the version of VMware Workstation from 17.0.2 to 17.5.1.

The Windows Image build gets stuck in the packer logs at:

vmware-iso: Starting virtual machine...

and there is no update after that line. I also noticed a failure in %TEMP/vmware-<USERNAME>/vmware-vix-n.log

2024-04-04T00:51:14.517Z In(05) vix-async-pipe Vix: [foundryVMPowerOps.c:6028]: Error VIX_E_HOST_TCP_SOCKET_ERROR in FoundryVMOpenSocketToVMXThroughAuthd(): unable to contact authd: Failed to read vmware-authd port number: Cannot connect to VMX: <PATH>\winsvr2019standard-foundation-1809-20240402.0.991.vmx

Not sure if it is related. The same packer build is working on the other machine where VMware workstation version 17.0.2 is installed.

Any help on this issue is appreciated!
