Hi all,
I'm tearing my hair out with an issue I have. We're using a backup product called Actifio which snapshots the VM's. I've set it up as an application back up so it's attempting to call a pre freeze script and a post thaw script.
The backup however is failing and I can't determine why.
So I thought I would enable the VMware Tools Debugging. It's a Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard server so I've created a tools.conf file in the following location "C:\ProgramData\Vmware\VMware Tools"
The conf file contains the following:
[logging]
log = true
vmtoolsd.level = debug
vmtoolsd.handler = file
vmtoolsd.data = e:\tmp\vmtoolsd.log
And I have restarted the VMware Tools Service. However there are no logs generated when I run the backup? Whatever I do, I cannot get a log file to generate. I've granted 'Everyone' full permissions to the log file tmp folder and I have disabled UAC but still no luck.
Does anyone have any ideas on where I am going wrong?
