When trying to add permissions from within the vSphere Client, it does not show the groups.

Hi,

I have created a folder structure from within VMs and Templates and I've created roles that I would like to apply.   However, when I click Add to view the AD users and groups I can only view the users and not the groups.  I have tried typing the groups I would like to apply manually, but it doesn't recognise it.  I have another VC where this isn't a problem, but checking the settings of both VC'S, they appear to be the same.  I've also increased the maximum number of users and groups to display from within the vCenter settings, which does increase the list, but doesn't display the groups.  Is there something obvious I am missing?

Thanks,

J

Which vSphere/vCenter Server version do you use? In case of vSphere 5 and SSO, how did you add the AD domain to the Identity Sources (AD or LDAP)?

Please provide some details about the configuration.

Sorry Andre, I guess that information would have been helpful.:smileyblush:

We are using ESX5.0.0.0 Build 913577, so SSO doesn't come into in

Thanks

Thanks for the reply.  Yeah, I've tried all options in the drop down box.  We have plenty of groups within AD, but it doesn't show any.

Just to add I can see the local groups, but when I select the domain, there lies my problem.
