Std switch vs Distributed switch

Do you know if it is possible to use the Std switch in vcloud director in stead of Distributed switche.

Virtual Distributed Switches (vDS) are supported and recommended by VMware. vDS provides full automation.

Although it is supported, VMware recommends that you do not use vSwitches because:

• All port groups have to be created accordingly on all ESX hosts in advance
• Dynamic provisioning via on-the-fly network pools is not possible

The Cisco Nexus v1000 only works with pre-provisioned network pools and does not work with:

• VLAN-backed network pools
• vCNI backed network pools
