Do we need an updated license for vCentre to go from 5.0 to 5.1? Apparently, the customer license has lapse as they dont wish to renew the support agreement yet.

I don't think it will be needed to change the license keys, since you are upgrading 5.0 to 5.1
if it was major release upgrade like 4.x to 5.x, it becomes necessary.
