Will upgrading VCenter version upgrade change the VMID?

Hello all,

We are the midst of upgrading our VMware vCenter server version from 6.7 to 8.0. If we successfully perform the version upgrade, would the VMID changes as well?

This query is due to we are having Veeam backup & replication for our VM backup solution. As the nature of Veeam backup will "remember" VMID once backup successfully for the first time and then continue the incremental backup with the same VMID.

If the VMID would change as well, it seems we would have all VM backup running with full backup all over again with new VMID.

Please advice

Thanks

I assume that you are talking abut the Virtual Machines'  MoRef ID (Managed Object Reference ID).
The vCenter Server assigned MoRef IDs are stored in the vCenter Server database, which will be migrated to the new vCenter Server during the upgrade. The only VM that will get a new MoRef ID is the newly deployed vCenter Server Appliance.
