vCenter 7/8 support with 3rd party SAML/OIDC IdP?

hi,

I've been searching around and it seems even with the latest vCenter, it does not support 3rd party SAML/OIDC IdP. It'd be ridiculous to build an AD FS environment just for vCenter. Can someone confirm there is really no way to perform SSO with 3rd party IdP such as Okta/OneLogin? It's unfortunate vCenter is so far behind and does not provide such support considering it's the underlying infrastructure and any compromise can have significant impact on the overall infrastructure.

Okta has been added as the latest External IdP in vSphere 8.0 Update 1 https://core.vmware.com/resource/whats-new-vsphere-8-update-1#sec25430-sub1
