Hi everyone,

I have 50 hosts and 600 virtual machines, I am going to upgrade my vSphere 5.5 to vSphere 6.

I have vDS, i will export the configuration from vCenter 5.5 and import it in the new vCenter 6. I  will disconnect the hosts from vCenter 5.5,  upgrade them to ESXi 6 and add them to vCenter 6.

When i add them to vCenter 6. i have to migrate the virtual machines to the vDS.

When i migrate the VM's what ways vMotion can fail. For example if i have reservation will migration fail.

Experts guide me with your experience what are precautionary steps i need to take care during vMotion. I cannot afford downtime.

Hey,

I have not tried using export/import of dvswitch configuration.

I have migrated 2 vCenter servers from 5.5 to 6 with 100+ Hosts and 6k VMs without any downtime.
