Does non-local storage transport mode affect VSAN performance?

Hi,

I'm running testing on VSAN 6.0, The diskgroup and VSAN datastore created. Only thing i noticed is that the disks are showing as "resides on a non-local storage transport". See attached vsan.disks_info screenshot. My question is what does non-local storage transport mean? and should this be a concern? So far the vsan datastore seems to be performing ok. I can mark the disks as local, but is there any benefit of doing so?

Thanks in advance.

This is simply because some SAS controllers can have their disks shared by more than one host.

This is VSAN giving you a heads up here - if you know that these disks are not shared with any other host, you can safely ignore it.

If you mark them as local, this should stop the message iirc.

Thanks, Cormac.

They are all local disks connected to PERC, so no risk of being shared by other hosts. I'll leave them so.
