vSAN HCI mesh client cluster requirements

Hello,

I would like to ask what are the conditions for HCI mesh client cluster? Is it technically/licensing possible to configure a VMware vSphere cluster licensed as vSphere Standard as HCI Mesh client cluster?

Thank you.

Here are the requirements for HCI mesh cluster in vSAN, and the reference link below:

  • Clusters must be managed by the same vCenter Server and be located within the same data center.
  • Clusters must be running 7.0 Update 1 or later.
  • A vSAN cluster can serve its local datastore to up to ten client vSAN clusters.
  • A client cluster can mount up to five remote datastores from one or more vSAN server clusters.

Hope this helps!

Yes, from a licensing perspective you can connect vSphere Standard without vSAN License as an HCI Mesh Client to a vSAN Enterprise Cluster.
