Hi
I have a cluster which has been around since v4, and has EVC enabled for legacy purposes, I'm not sure a] I need it enabled any more and b] if I can just 'turn it off' without impacting running VMs, or needing to power cycle VMs.
Current CPUs are
Intel Xeon E5-2640 v3 2.6GHz
Intel Xeon E5-2640 v4 2.4GHz
Intel Xeon Silver 4212R 2.4GHz
Current EVC mode is Nehalem
If I go to cluster settings and go to Disable EVC, I don't get any compatibility warnings, I just get a message that to re-enable EVC it might be necessary to power cycle running VMs.
Cluster is 6.0U3 ( I know I know)
Mate,
If you upgrade the EVC level on the cluster, you may need to reboot the running VMs in order to accept the updated evc settings by the virutal machine.
Yeah but this is disabling, *not* upgrading?
It will work like this only.
If you disable the EVC, it's not mandatory to turn your VMs off.
