Does vMotion Kernel require IP?

Hi all.

I want to migrate VMs from a local disk on ESXi to a local disk on another ESXi (via network migration).

I confuse because in my case doesn't use shared storage.

With shared storage, can I migrate VMs without having to assign ip to vMotion Kernel?
Can I migrate over the network by assigning ip to vMotion kernel?

How can I migrate VMs on a local disk to a local disk??

Best regards.

So you’re trying to change the host and datastore in a single migration. That has been possible for a long time.

You will need to have IP connectivity between the 2 hosts, with VMkernel ports enabled for vMotion, plus the hosts must be managed by vCenter Server and licensed.
