Enabling Guest OS Debug under ESXi

Hi All,

I am attempting to debug a Linux kernel issue for a customer that is running in ESXi. I am wondering if guest debugging, like that found under workstation, is also available under ESXi.

If it is possible, does anyone know the configuration options to enable it? I can't imagine that it would be enabled by default.

Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi daphnissov, thanks for responding so quickly!

In workstation, you can add the configuration parameter stubDebug.listen.guest32 that allows someone to live debug the guest with a debugger like gdb. I enabled the debugging option you outlined (which I had not done previously), with the option enabled, to no avail.

Do you know if it is even possible to enable live debugging?
