Export of OVF is slow

I am facing slowness in the export of VM as OVF. To troubleshoot on the network side, need to know how the OVF files are being exported, is it via the ESXi host management port group? please confirm

Hi,

You need to check the whole chain of network devices - from your computer where you upload OVF file to specific ESXi host and datastore via network interfaces for virtual machines.

I am trying to export the VM as OVF from the vCenter server not uploading it. Please let me know if the export of data transfers via the ESXi management network.

As you are exporting ovf from your esxi storage to your local machine, you will be using esxi management network if you are not using specific vSAN network. Please see below the link for esxi traffic type

https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-vSphere/8.0/vsan-network-design-guide/GUID-041B765D-1973-420C-9010....

Also you have check the storage perfomance to see if issue is in network or storage, use below link to check:

There is alternate OVF tool to export, you can also try that:

Hi,

I recommend you to use ESXTOP utility on your host during a process of exporting and see through which interface the traffic is going.

Also, you will be able to see extend info about network interfaces.
