We have two ESX - IBM SYSTEM X3650 M3 with VMware vSphere 5.5 and during the last days, we needed the crash as you see in the attached capture, I would need if I would indicate the reason for it or at least where logs of registers because you look like ESX sensors do not report hardware problems.
Thanks greetings!
It is a known issue caused by E1000 adapters. Please update your ESXi host to latest patch
It may be due to some change in the configuration of the physical adapters, because until two days ago it had NEVER passed these purple screenshots ...
This issue doesnt point to E1000 or E1000e physical adapter, it points to the virtual adapters added to the VMs, solution is to change the VM's adapter to VMXNET3 or patch the host.
It can come from changes in the virtual adapters made lately, related to VLANS?
Could be due to new adapters created with type E1000/E100E on virtual machines, not related to VLAN though.
Does the pache need to shut down or restart the ESX? or can it be done hot?
Yes, you have to restart your ESXi after patching.
