Good day together
Until now (ESXi 7.0.0 for sure) it was possible to rename an existing vSwitch using /etc/vmware/esx.conf. However, in the latest version 7.0.2 this is no longer possible, because in the conf file this entry no longer exists. How must this be done currently?
Thanks and best regards
okay just tested it, wrote a short blog that shows how you can do this:
From what to what would you rename it?
Hi, i would like to rename it from vSwitch0 to vSwitchLan
I know I can delete and recreate it, but until version 7.0.0 it was possible to change the name via esx.conf, which seems no longer to be the case...
Thanks and best regards
that info has move to the "configstore" it seems, you can access the configstore via the configstorecli. But I have not tried renaming a vswitch yet. you can dump your vswitch info via the following command:
configstorecli config current get -c esx -g network_vss -k switches
this shows the config on the commandline, and seems to contain the name details, but not sure renaming works, you use "current set" and a json input to make changes.

Perfect, thank you very much!
