Snapshot stun issues with creation and deletion

Hello,

We are having major problems with snapshot creation and deletion, but only on our VM's housed on our Unity 450F storage. We do not have this problem with VM's residing on Compellent storage. We use iSCSI for both storage types.

I see stun times of 20 seconds, and these are neither memory OR quiesced snapshots.

I've had multiple VMware tickets open, tickets with Dell Unity support, as well as the Dell hardware team for the hosts, and no one has been able to find a root cause. They have checked the NIC drivers and firmware

This just started happening after rebuilding our hosts with ESXi 7.0 U3i. Previously we were running ESXi 6.7U3.

Can anyone provide any suggestions of how to help with these issues?

Please provide some configuration details, e.g. FC, iSCSI, ...

In case of iSCSI:

  • single, or multiple subnet setup
  • explicit port binding configured
  • same MTU from end-to-end
  • DelayedAck enabled, or disabled
  • individual SATP rules in place (see e.g. chapter "3.3 Multipathing") in Dell EMC Unity: VMware vSphere Best Practices)
