Thin Provisioned VMDK Incompatible Device Backing For Multi-Writer

I have a thin provisioned virtual hard drive that was created and added to this machine. I then went to switch on Multi-writer and received the below error.

Incompatible device backing specified for device '0'.

I also tried creating the VMDK with Multi-Writer on instead of trying to switch to it later and received the same error and could not create the VMDK in that case.

Search results have not returned any useful information yet.

Multi-writer mode disks must be thick-provisioned eager zeroed.  If you switch it to thick eager zeroed, it will work.

Thanks for the quick response. Was hoping to use thin for space reclamation but had a feeling this would be the answer.
