This morning around 1240am EDT, one of my 4 hosts shut down. It took 7 servers with it. I had performed no recent maintenance in vSphere. I updated the versions of IMM and UEFI Sunday 10pm EDT.
I have vshpere-webclient-xxxx entries stating API invocations and identifying the agent vmware vim-java 1.0.
What would cause a host to go down? Where's the best place to get assistance troubleshooting.
I am an MSP and inherited this system, so I am dissecting it as I go.
How exactly did the host "shut down". Did it power off, or run into a PSOD?
If the host powered off, the first place to look for information are the server's hardware management logs, e.g. iLO for HPE, iDRAC for Dell, etc.

The popular reason for such errors - Driver/Firmware compatibility.
Try to update everything starting from:
1. iLO/iDRAC
2. BIOS.
3. ESXi to the latest version.
4. Firmware/Drivers.
it should bring stability. if not helps, check if RAM Modules are not causing issues, check in BIOS - > CPU settings.
