vSphere 6.7 license to 8

Hello,

We are currently running an environment as Stretched Cluster and the version is 6.7.

We are in process to upgrade from Stretched Cluster to 3 node cluster by adding a new  host which has ESXI V8, What is the best way ti do that?

I was planning to upgrade all the existing environment to VSPHERE 8 and then add the new host, for this I need to upgrade all the licenses, so just a question can we upgrade the existing license from 6.7 to 8. Or if anyone has other suggestions, please help.

If your environment is on 6.7U3, then you can go straight to 8.0. If you are less than U3, then you need to upgrade to at least U3 and then upgrade for the software. As for the license, you cannot upgrade your license from 6.7 straight to 8. If you have a support contract, you can upgrade them from 6.7 to 7, the from 7 to 8. However, if you are not under a current agreement, then you will need to purchase new licenses for 8. At least this is my understanding.
