We run an esx 3.0.2 environment in a 3-node cluster using 2 IBM x3950 (x460) and a smaller x3650. All VMs on are windows server 2003. We recently upgraded from esx 2.5.2. In the past few weeks we have noticed that intermittantly, our dual CPU VMs sometimes do not boot fully. They start loading windows and then hang on the applying group policy message that is displayed just before the logon prompt. We have not noticed this on single CPU machines. Eventually after a few reboot attempts the machine will boot fully.
Has anyone else spotted this issue and have any suggestions for a fix/workaround?
