Hello all,
I have just finished cold migrating a VM from one LUN to another on the same clarion device. I kept in on the same host. When I power on, I get the following message: failed to relocate virtual machine
I checked the old LUN (datastore) and the files are not there anymore, they are indeed on the new LUN. the host can see both LUNs ok. I do have other VMs that just migrated there today and they worked fine.
Here is my set up:
ESX 3.0.2\Virtual Center 2.x, all using the latest patches and updates.
Anyone come across this yet. I have tried removing from inventory and re-adding to inventory. I haven't tried to migrate back to old LUN yet.
Thanks,
-VM Vic
Hello,
I have experienced this message. It was quite some time ago. I think I removed it from inventory. Then browsed the vmfs store an added back to inventory.
Maybe post the vpxa log for that host.
Hi Mike,
I forgot to mention that i did try that. I am going to try to remove each vmdk disk and adding them back and try relocating to another host and datastore. We'll see. If anyone else out there has a suggestion, please post.
Thanks,
-Vic
I know there is an issue with vmfs-2 to 3 where the relocation sais success but it does not actually move it.
Try cloning it instead and then keep the guid when it prompts you on power up.
